“NATIONAL WEEK OF DONATION AND TRANSPLANT OF ORGANS AND SKIN " During year 2003
the forty years of the first renal transplant made in our country are
commemorated. In effect in 1963 in the General Hospital of the National Medical
Center of the Mexican Institute of the Social Insurance, - that was affected by
the 1985 earthquake - this transplant was carried out. At the present time the
flaming Hospital of Specialties of the Medical Center rises in its place Century
XXI of the mentioned institute. This hospital is inheriting of the tradition in
transplants of its predecessor. The people in charge of this surgery were
doctors Manuel Quijano Narezo, the Dr.Gómez Mont (today passed away), the
Dr.Federico Ortiz Quezada and the Dr.Regino Vivero.
