The National Polytechnical Institute has its roots in a set of created
technical and professional schools during second half of century XX. At the
beginning of the Thirties, in the Department of Industrial and Commercial
Technical Education, from the Secretariat of Public Education, the idea
arose to found a new educative organization with own and innovatory
characteristics. The person in charge of the Department was the Engineer
Juan de Dios Bátiz, who supported by a professional outstanding group, gave
body to the first project for the creation of which, years later, he would
be the Polytechnical one.
