" 300 YEARS OF THE FOUNDING OF CHIHUAHUA "
09 - OCTOBER - 2009
The origin of the Chihuahua City begins with the discovery of the nearby
mines and founded the town of Santa Eulalia de Merida. In 1652 Captain Don
Diego del Castillo managed the first lawsuit in the region, but due to
weather and the constant attacks of hostile natives, the operation was
suspended on several occasions. Later in the year 1707, were discovered
major mineral deposits of which spurred the development of Real de Minas de
Santa Eulalia and laid the groundwork for the emergence of other settlements
that eventually led to the present city of Chihuahua.
