

" CAPTURE OF HIDALGO AND THE EARLY LEADERS "

On March 16 of 1811, two months after the defeat in
“Puente de Calderón”, the insurgents left Saltillo for Chihuahua. On March
21 were made by the captain of militia Francisco Ignacio Elizondo, who
pretended to be loyal to the insurgency and military honors. He took the
surprise, and with just over three hundred thousand men made prisoners one
