" EXECUTION OF MIGUEL HIDALGO  "

16 - SEPTEMBER - 2009

On July 3 it was ruled that Hidalgo was guilty of high treason and author of "heinous murder" and therefore must die. The Inquisition found him guilty of multiple offenses, and was stripped of his priestly character in the early hours of July 29. At dawn on July 30, a squad of twelve soldiers shot the priest in Dolores, leader of the insurgent rebellion.
