   " EXECUTION OF MORELOS "

Since late September 1815, José María Morelos troops guarding the Congress in its continuous pilgrimage for not being taken prisoner by the royalists. Morelos and congressmen arrived in Tehuacan, after a march of several days. The royalists began to close the circle, to the four corners of the geography of the war. On November 5 combat Tesmalaca presented Morelos, the insurgents were defeated and arrested: nearly thirty separatists were shot, while Morelos was taken toward Mexico City and imprisoned in the prison of the Inquisition.

On November 22 started the trial against him the next day, the Archbishop of Mexico and the bishops of Oaxaca and Durango sentenced to deprivation of any benefit, ecclesiastical degradation and its delivery to civilian authorities who questioned him in the Citadel looking that his followers were pardoned for saving his life. On December 22 he was taken to San Cristobal Ecatepec, where he was shot.
