



MEXICAN CHRISTMAS

Christmas is the commemoration of the birth of Jesus.
Early Christians only commemorated the death and resurrection of Jesus, was
until the fourth century when it began the tradition of celebrating his
birth. From the Edict of Milan was set on December 25 in the West as the
date of this celebration. Over the centuries, established rituals and
celebrations surrounding this event, including: midnight mass, the advent
and wakefulness. Similarly, other traditions were instituted of Roman,
Germanic and Nordic, such as the gift of gifts, the abundance of food and
drink, and the consumption of sweets. In the thirteenth century, St. Francis
of Assisi received the approval of Pope Honorius III to make a
representation "static and contemplative" the birth of Jesus.
