The Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, institution engaged with the society and its environment, was founded in 1973 with a commitment to seek the truth through the scientific and humanistic research and transmit knowledge through teaching and diffusion, this contributing way to the development of Mexico and Aguascalientes.

The more remote history of Maximum House of Studies of the Free and Sovereign State of Aguascalientes has its roots in the School of Agriculture opened its doors on January 15, 1867, and taught high school history and the careers of Farmer, Engineer geographer, and Surveyor Veterinarian.
