"Baseball in Mexico"
Los Diablos Rojos of Mexico
Baseball is a sport exciting, dynamic and interesting. Is said to be derived
from the English sports rounders and cricket, having its origin in the United
States. General Abner Doubleday is considered by many as the father of baseball.
While some differ, the Mills Commission points out as the creator of the first
diagram of a baseball diamond and the first rules, event which took place in
1839, in Farmer Phinney in Cooperstown, New York.
Baseball arrived in Mexico from the past century, however there is no certainty
on the place and date of arrival in our country. There are several versions that
are given with the country's modernization and the arrival of Americans in the
last two decades of the nineteenth century who came to do business, build
railroads, or to advise companies that began their development, and with them
the Baseball was introduced in Aztec soil.
The Mexican League has had three stages, the first of which covers from 1925 to
1937, being played almost exclusively in Mexico City, the second was in 1937
when he began the compilation of statistics, until 1954, and finally the third,
1955 , when it enters the Organized Baseball, to date.
On July 6, 1945 born Mexican Pacific League, was given the official announcement
of their integration in Hermosillo, Sonora. Its founders were Teodoro Mariscal,
Enrique Batiz Pena, Florencio Zaragoza, Rogelio Rodriguez, Juan Chavez
Etchegoyen and Fernando Ortiz. In its early years was known as the League of the
Pacific Coast. The Mexican Pacific League has had two stages. The first covers
the years from 1945 to 1958 and the second from 1958 to date.
In 2010 is the 70th anniversary of the Red Devils as members of the Mexican
League, where games are played 7.743, of which 4.643 are 3.633 triumphs defeats
with 61 league, not including playoffs or Finals Series.
A beautiful story I have written eight presidents, 36 managers and hundreds of
players. Some just came to devils, some to Hell, the least more Diablos. But the
important thing is that all have helped shape the spirit of struggle for the
triumph which characterizes all who wear the uniform red color for the team from
Mexico City Reds symbolizes the passion, commitment and courage to to emerge
victorious.
In addition to players, a very important factor to maintain the warrior
tradition in the field, have been the enthusiastic fans from the stands transmit
their insatiable thirst for victory, do not stop with their batons of breath and
never give up.
The Mexican Postal Service, Correos de Mexico, in 2010 begins with the issue of
postage stamps "Baseball in Mexico", whose design included three players from
the Diablos Rojos of Mexico: Jose Luis Sandoval, Miguel Ojeda and
Roberto Saucedo.
