At the end of 1815 hostile environment of
conflict that began five years earlier had branded the geology of New Spain.
The wounds were felt in the political bodies in parochial organizations and
between families.
The cities and prosperous villages before Bajio showed the ravages of high-intensity
war, with its load of disruptions of daily life and the depopulation and
Central and South felt the threats of violence. Throughout the viceroyalty
trade was reduced to elemental exchanges, while farms and ranches producing
just enough for local consumption. The abandonment and insecurity felt in
many roads and towns, especially those who, being the crossroads of many
small regional routes must vitality to the economy of the Kingdom, such as
those linking the ports of Acapulco - Mexico - Puebla - Veracruz , or “the
Camino Real de Tierra Adentro”, and even the mountain villages north and
south.
