FILATELIA DE MÉXICO

" TEACHER'S DAY "
15 - MAY - 2011

The Congress established the Teacher's Day in Mexico by Decree published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on December 3, 1917. The first celebration was May 15, 1918, as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation to the work of teachers.

With the advent of Adolfo de la Huerta to power in 1920, changes were initiated to comply with the democratization of educational administration, as well as the principles of Article Three of the Constitution, considered necessary to undertake and incorporate comprehensive national actions, as no longer enough just to declare education free, secular and compulsory.
